Here is why the new change is very significant. Everyone spends at least 3 to 5 minutes on the homepage before dashing off to the explore pages and into a series of endless entertainment. About a year ago, Instagram introduced the shopping icon where one could shop via Instagram through the website. This gave a lot of brands more awareness, sales and traffic to their web pages.

Today, this very shopping icon can be found exactly where the notifications button used to be as this button has been moved to the top right corner. This is deliberate as they know that subconsciously you will press on it whether you are looking to shop or not.


Another new feature added is the Guide manual. On the top left corner of your profile page, you will be able to create guides for your followers. This is a cool feature as it customizes and suggests everything that is meant for you, from your nearby surrounding locations to products and posts. It is there to help you find exactly what you like and are looking for.

Instagram is more than a social media platform. It’s where you share photos and videos and has now become the leading marketing hub of paid sponsorships, influencers and fashion icons.
